Charlotte's Web

Colorado-based cannabidiol company Charlotte’s Web was founded in 2014 by Joel Stanley and his six brothers—collectively known as the Stanley brothers. The company’s mission is to better the planet and improve the lives of people—particularly children and families, veterans and service workers, and women and girls—using natural botanics.

The company is named after a young girl, Charlotte Figi, whom the Stanley brothers helped using a proprietary strain of hemp they developed in 2012. Charlotte was diagnosed with Dravet syndrome, an intractable form of epilepsy where attacks get increasingly frequent and severe. Her parents were desperate for a cure they couldn’t find within the medical industry, when they came across the potential benefits of cannabis with minimal to no THC.

Cannabis without THC was uncommon at the time—the source Charlotte’s parents initially turned to for this particular strain had an insufficient supply. Luckily for the Figi family, they found the Stanley brothers, who were growing the strain for research purposes and had enough to give to Charlotte. Her parents were amazed at the improvements she showed immediately after taking the company’s CBD. Charlotte’s epileptic attacks decreased to once per week and sometimes as infrequently as once per month.

In addition to producing full-spectrum hemp products, the Stanley brothers and the Figi family co-founded Realm of Caring in 2013, a non-profit to advocate and educate others on the benefits of natural therapies. Their research is provided by the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

Charlotte’s Web CBD extracts come in a variety of concentrations. The company recognizes that everyone reacts differently to CBD, and requires different strengths to soothe their ailments. Their website also features several application methods, such as oil (also available in bulk), capsules, gummies, creams and balms. In addition, they sell hemp extract for dogs.
